We'll be sharing an inspiring story every day of Dementia Action Week, highlighting the incredible actions that Dementia Friends are taking to help people affected by dementia.

Day two and Michael Philip Parry made some simple changes to the way he visits his mum which has made a big difference:

'I visit my mum. Last year I was still going five or six days a week. As I only live round the corner from mum's full time nursing home.

'Since last Christmas I decided I would go on:-  Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and either Saturday or Sunday. Now mum seems much more aware of the days I visit and seems much more enriched by this new approach, as she has her rest days. When she knows she can sleep without worrying she will miss my visit. I still talk to mum as I always have, before mum became unwell. Her name is Michele. The last four years have proved life affirming in many ways.

At Church everybody always asks after mum and many people know her personally through the social and friendship groups mum belonged to. It was at church that I first heard of Dementia Friends. Thank you for being there raising awareness.'
