Request a Dementia Friends Session

If you would like to request a Dementia Friends Session, it is important that you and your group understand a little more about what the session will entail.

What is a Dementia Friends Session?

A Dementia Friends Session is a fun, interactive way to learn a little about dementia and how it can affect people’s lives. Led by a volunteer Dementia Friends Ambassador, the session lasts around 60 minutes and covers five things we want everyone to know about dementia, through activities and discussion.

Please note: Dementia Friends Sessions are not training, if you need more in-depth or specific training on dementia, find out more about all the external training Alzheimer’s Society offer.

What will happen next?

Once you submit your request, it will be made available to volunteer Dementia Friends Ambassadors in the area who will then be able to sign up to deliver the session. Once matched with a volunteer you will be put in contact with them so you can communicate directly and finalise details.

Please be aware: Dementia Friends cannot guarantee that a Dementia Friends Ambassador will be available to deliver the session. If we are unable to provide a volunteer for the requested date, we may ask you to provide alternative dates for the session.

Dementia Friends and/or Dementia Friends Ambassadors retain the right to cancel or end the Dementia Friends Session at any time. Dementia Friends Sessions should only be requested if you have a group of 10 or more people wanting to attend. If your group is fewer than 10 people, take a look at the public sessions being run in your area or book onto to a virtual session. Please note we require at least a month’s notice to process and match any requests for a Dementia Friends Session.
