Today's story is a perfect example of what a difference a simple conversation can make.

Debbie Wilson tells us more:

'I work in a pharmacy and recently a lady whose husband is living dementia came in to pick up prescriptions and then also to purchase items at the healthcare counter. As I served the lady on both counters I could sense she was feeling low. I wanted to have a chat to her to let her know she must not feel alone with her situation and what she was having to cope with on a daily basis. I encouraged her to come to our pharmacy if she ever felt the need for a chat at any time.
She left the pharmacy thanking me.

'On the Saturday after I had seen this lady, her daughter came in to the pharmacy to thank me for the time spent with her mum and how much it meant to her. It just felt right to have the conversation and to let the lady know that all staff in our pharmacy are dementia friends.'
