Jo recently completed our Champions Challenge – a fun activity where you make your way across our table of tasks, completing one from each column. In fact, she managed to complete 12 of the possible 20 Challenges! A huge well done from us, Jo! Here she shares what pushed her to start the challenge, and how completing it has given her the confidence to deliver Sessions in different environments.

Jo had already got her Champions Challenge underway, but really saw an opportunity to complete it after being approached by a school. “I'd crossed off a couple of boxes and when I was approached by a high school to run a couple of sessions I thought, if I really pushed myself, then it was a challenge I could complete!”

She says as a result of completing the Champions Challenge, which includes tasks such; as Deliver a Session to children, Deliver an Information Session using one of the adapted resources and Run your biggest Session yet, it has given her more confidence and the determination to deliver Sessions to more schools and young people. “My next personal challenge is to run Sessions to my local Scouts and Guide's groups.”

“I'm proud to raise awareness and show a different view of Dementia. Showing people there's resources out there to support people living well with Dementia…and knowing I am making a difference to someone.”

So, as Jo says: ‘I’d definitely recommend the Champions Challenge to other Champions, it’s a good way of keeping motivated and you could win a Dementia Friends mug like mine, so why not just give it a go?”
